Within Shipyard we have a program called N-Touch. N-Touch is a program designed to ensure that there is a constant circle of caring here in Shipyard. All you have to do is submit a form (located online or at the Welcome Center), and a member of the POA staff will contact you based on your preferences. From May 1st through October 31st, sea turtles make Hilton Head Island their home. Many local sea turtles decide to pay their eggs on our beaches and soon after they start to hatch. According to the Sea Turtle Patrol Hilton Head, the group has found 134 total sea turtle nests on the island so far. Regular white lights can be distracting to newly hatched sea turtles and can deter them from finding their way into the ocean.
