Update on Free COVID-19 Testing and Vaccines on Hilton Head Island
The Town of Hilton Head Island has partnered with BrightStar Care to administer free COVID-19 tests from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday at Chaplin Community Park, 11 Castnet Drive, beginning January 11, 2022.
“With the current rise in COVID-19 cases, there has been an increased demand for testing,” said Tom Dunn, Emergency Manager for the Town of Hilton Head Island. “Hosting the test site at Chaplin Community Park allows us to better accommodate traffic and the volume of people who are seeking a COVID-19 test. As the week progresses, we will evaluate our test locations to determine if a change of venue is necessary for safety and traffic flow.”
“We ask the public to bear with us and be patient while we provide this service,” Dunn said.
Here’s what you need to know about the testing event at Chaplin Community Park:
- This will be a drive-thru PCR (nasal swab) test. Rapid COVID-19 tests are not available at this site.
- Those interested in being tested should enter Chaplin Community Park from Singleton Beach Road and follow signs to the test site.
- Motorists and park visitors may want to temporarily avoid the area of Chaplin Community Park where testing will take place. COVID-19 testing will be on-going until the demand for tests declines or until further notice.
- Although it is not required, event organizers recommend that people pre-register for the test at https://patientxchange.io/patientmanagement?testguid=7D9B106589F049B. Pre-registering will help with the flow of traffic and help expedite testing.
- People will receive test results within 48 to 72 hours from the test provider. Results for tests completed on Saturdays may take longer to receive.
- Anyone under 18 years of age should bring their parent or legal guardian. They will need to give their consent before children can be tested.
