It is Sea Turtle Season!

The sea turtle nesting season starts Today, May 1st! The Sea Turtle Patrol operate under a permit issued by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. This means they are the only ones permitted to mark nests, move nests, record and transmit data, and handle/supervise all sea turtle activities. The Turtle Trackers are a sister organization who educate island guests and often serve as “hosts” on the beach to visitors looking for more information.   Have you heard about Turtle Trackers? Did you know there are over 350 turtle trackers on Hilton Head, many of whom are right here in Shipyard? In fact, the Shipyard chapter is in its fifth year this season. Sea Turtle nesting season begins in May.
