Tropical Storm: Isaias (8/2/20)

Tropical Storm Isaias expected to impact Beaufort County starting tomorrow afternoon, Monday. Starting tomorrow afternoon, Monday, August 3, 2020, and throughout tomorrow night, Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to bring heavy rain, potentially damaging winds and flooding to Beaufort County. As of 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, the National Weather Service’s National Hurricane Center is reporting Isaias to be located 370 miles south-southeast of Savannah, moving north-northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Hurricane Isaias Alert National Hurricane Center At 1100 AM, the center of Hurricane Isaias was located by an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft and Bahamas radar near latitude 24.7 North, longitude 77.9 West. Isaias is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A general northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected for the next day or so, followed by a north-northwestward motion by late Sunday. On the forecast track, the center of Isaias will move over northern Andros Island during the next few hours and move near or over Grand Bahama Island in the Northwestern …

MASKS MANDATORY STARTING TOMORROW On June 29, 2020,  Hilton Head Island Town Council adopted Emergency Ordinance 2020-14 requiring individuals to wear face coverings in commercial business establishments in the municipal limits of the Town of Hilton Head Island effective 11:59 pm on June 30, 2020.
