Short-Term Rental Order

April 10, 2020 – Due to overwhelming public concern, the Hilton Head Island Town Council today repealed an emergency ordinance it passed earlier this week and adopted Governor Henry McMaster’s previously issued executive order prohibiting short-term rentals during the COVID-19 crisis. The Governor’s executive order 2020-19, signed into effect on Friday, April 3, directed owners of short-term rentals and other lodging accommodations from making or accepting new reservations from people traveling from areas the Centers for Disease Control has identified as places where COVID-19 transmission is widespread, including the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. “Home or work” mandate added to executive order At today’s (Monday, April 6, 2020) press conference, Governor Henry McMaster added mandates to his coronavirus (COVID-19) executive order, which will go into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7, 2020. In his press conference, Governor McMaster issued a “home or work” mandate for all South Carolina residents. According to a his news release, “The governor’s “Home or Work” order goes into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7 at 5:00 PM. Coronavirus Update

As you know the coronavirus cases in South Carolina have taken a dramatic turn upward. Yesterday, the Governor of South Carolina and the Hilton Head Island Town Council took executive actions to curtail that upward curve on COVID-19 contagion. 1.The Governor previously mandated that anyone visiting from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or New Orleans must self quarantine for 14 days to protect the residents of South Carolina and promote a culture of infections control. If you rent your Shipyard property, you are to ensure that your renters follow the Governor’s mandate. 2.
