When you remove your leaves and other debris from your yard, you must take them to the Hilton Head Dump at 26 Summit Dr. To access the site you will need to obtain a decal from the website, hiltonheadislandsc.gov. If a professional lawn company maintains your lawn, they must take any landscape debris with them. Unfortunately, we have a few instances where debris will be dumped on a neighboring vacant lot or POA common property. People often think that dangerous wildfires occur only in the western United States, when in fact there is high fire activity in the south.  Think of all the natural vegetation we have here! Weather, topography and fuel are all elements together that determine how likely we are to have a fire, how fast a wildfire will burn, the direction a wildfire will burn, the intensity  and our ability to control the fire.
