HHI Short-Term Rental Ordinance

Short-Term Rental Ordinance As a resort area, Hilton Head Island has numerous short-term rental units. The lack of a Short-Term Rental ordinance has led to an imbalance between residential and resort districts and the elimination of some long-term single-family neighborhoods. The Town proposes to craft a Short-Term Rental ordinance to develop a fair, predictable, and balanced approach to manage short-term rental impacts on our neighborhoods, economy, housing stock, public facilities, and the quality of life of our residents and experiences of our visitors. Short-Term Rental Order

April 10, 2020 – Due to overwhelming public concern, the Hilton Head Island Town Council today repealed an emergency ordinance it passed earlier this week and adopted Governor Henry McMaster’s previously issued executive order prohibiting short-term rentals during the COVID-19 crisis. The Governor’s executive order 2020-19, signed into effect on Friday, April 3, directed owners of short-term rentals and other lodging accommodations from making or accepting new reservations from people traveling from areas the Centers for Disease Control has identified as places where COVID-19 transmission is widespread, including the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Annual Meeting Reminder 2020

The management team at Shipyard Property Owners’ Association is preparing for the Annual Meeting of the Association which will be held at the Sonesta Resort at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10th.  Please remember to return your proxy so we can be assured of a quorum.  Also, use caution around the property as we do need paving work before the heavy traffic season arrives.  Hilton Head Health has started construction of their new dorm so be careful as you round the bend towards Hamilton during this construction. Beach Club Facelift

If you have been inside of the Beach Club lately, you may have noticed that we have been busy with upgrades, which will continue through early March.  The walls have been painted a lighter color, some of the interior furniture has been resurfaced and/or reupholstered, the deck chairs were replaced, shiplap was installed around the doors to the main room and in between the restrooms, and the bar area will be refurbished.  Also, you might have noticed some new accent pieces (rugs, lighting, and such) throughout.  We hope you like the refreshed look and we look forward to seeing you …
