Hilton Head Best US Islands in 2021
America has weighed in again: Hilton Head Island is one of the top islands in the world, according to a poll of Condé Nast Traveler readers. Hilton Head was ranked as the best island in the United States during the travel magazine’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards. The results were released Tuesday. This is the fifth consecutive year that Hilton Head has topped the list of best U.S. islands in Condé Nast’s poll. CVS will offer a FLU SHOT CLINIC at the Beach Club on Tuesday, September 29th from 10AM-1PM.No RSVPs are necessary. Just bring your insurance card, and be prepared to sign a consent form. Medicare isaccepted, as well as most private insurance types.
Know Your Neighbor – Mary Alice Tartler
Mary Alice relocated from the DC Metropolitan area to Hilton Head Island after retiring from the U.S. Government just over 19 years ago. Upon retiring, she devoted her free time to improving her skills as a photographer, with an emphasis on the wildlife of the Lowcountry. Mary Alice has been the Shipyard photographer for the past 6 years, including photos for POA ads in local magazines (Hilton Head Monthly, Celebrate Hilton Head (CH2), and Local Life), as well as images for this newsletter. COVID Welcome Center Hours
CURRENT WELCOME CENTER HOURS The Welcome Center is now operating on the normal schedule, but we are still limiting guests (5 or fewer at a time) in the office. The current hours are M-F 8am-4pm and Sat. & Sun. 8am-12pm.

Join us at our outdoor Fall Festival on October 23 from 2-7 pm. We will have socially distanced tables and chairs set-up at the Beach Club circle and on the deck. ALLIGATOR SAFETY IN SHIPYARD Warm spring weather means alligators are more active and more visible. Rising temperatures increase an alligator’s metabolism, which means they begin seeking prey. Occasionally you’ll see them basking in the sun as they regulate their body temperature. Alligator mating season begins in early April and goes into June. All of this means that you may encounter an alligator when walking near the water, participating in recreational water activities, or if the alligator has been fed and become habituated to humans.
