The sea turtle nesting season starts Today, May 1st! The Sea Turtle Patrol operate under a permit issued by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. This means they are the only ones permitted to mark nests, move nests, record and transmit data, and handle/supervise all sea turtle activities. The Turtle Trackers are a sister organization who educate island guests and often serve as “hosts” on the beach to visitors looking for more information.
