BOAT SAFETY CHECK LIST Ok it’s time to get the boat out – if you haven’t already!  This is a good time to go over that check list of items you need to have on board to insure everyone’s safety! There needs to be a PFD (personal flotation device) for every person onboard your boat. PFDs must be approved by the Coast Guard. If your boat is 16 feet or over, you need to have a throwable PFD onboard and immediately available in case someone falls overboard. People often think that dangerous wildfires occur only in the western United States, when in fact there is high fire activity in the south.  Think of all the natural vegetation we have here! Weather, topography and fuel are all elements together that determine how likely we are to have a fire, how fast a wildfire will burn, the direction a wildfire will burn, the intensity  and our ability to control the fire.
