S.C. DHEC COVID-19 Testing on Hilton Head Island Moved to Crossings Park Starting Monday, January 17, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) will relocate its free COVID-19 testing from Fire Station 4 on Squire Pope Road to Crossings Park, 4 Haig Point Circle on Hilton Head Island. DHEC’s drive-thru testing will take place only on Mondays between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Those interested in being tested should enter Crossings Park at Haig Point Circle and follow the signs to the soccer field, where DHEC staff will administer the PCR (nasal swab) test. This year, the Hilton Head Sea Turtle Patrol reported nearly 46% fewer nests on Hilton Head Island beaches. They documented 291 nests for 2020 compared to 463 nests in 2019. They noted a 76% success rate with nest hatches. Unfortunately, 38 nests became misoriented due to violations with beachfront lighting. Beachfront lighting is an issue we are continuing to work on.
