September 2020 News You Can Use

The Month Ahead-September 2020

Happy Monday! As it turned out, we were made aware of a fair amount of information to share with you right after The Anchor went out last week. However, it is our goal to keep you in the loop. So please make note of the following, and reach out to us with any questions/comments.
  • Recently some owners received notification that the Town Planning Commission was reviewing options for workforce housing in areas of Hilton Head. David Ames, the Town Councilman for Shipyard, attended a recent Executive Committee meeting and gave some background on this proposal. It is clear that the majority of workers on Hilton Head have to travel to get to work, and the Town Council has been working since 2017 to try to devise a plan to help re-purpose some density for workforce housing options. Any interested owners who have questions may call David Ames at (843) 686-3810 with any related questions or concerns. The Board of Directors felt that it was best for interested owners to review this independently and respond to the Town.
  • Have you registered to vote yet? The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan organization, will be at the Beach Club on Wednesday, September 9th from 10am-noon. They can help with registration or mail-in and absentee ballot requests.
  • Planning on getting a flu shot? CVS will provide an onsite vaccine clinic for Shipyard owners at the Beach Club on Friday, September 25th from 10am-1pm. All you need to bring is your insurance card and a state-issued ID.
  • Please be reminded that the complimentary food delivery program (for services such as Door Dash & Instacart) will end on September 8th. As a reminder, the POA already has an arrangement with Uber Eats, but we are working on agreements with other companies. Please keep this in mind when placing orders.
  • While we are working on devising plans to facilitate food delivery programs, we are trying something new in an effort to bring fun food options to you. On Friday, September 11th from 11am-4pm, we will have a food truck (The Naked Dog) in the Welcome Center parking lot for you to enjoy. We will send out a priced menu for your reference within a week of the event. If it is well received, there are plans in place to try it again for an October Nibble & Nip event…perhaps a POA Block Party with Masquerade (mask competition) in the Beach Club Circle.
The following is a listing of other POA events for SEPTEMBER at the Beach Club:
  • Owner Deck Days (4-8pm): 8, 16, 21, & 30
  • Men’s Club (6:30-9pm): 14 & 28
  • Women’s Club (10am-4pm): 15
